Farmer’s Delight

A big cooking and farming expansion. Adds new crops, a cooking pot (place it and right-click to open a cooking interface — just add ingredients like a crafting recipe and it produces a meal), a stove for basic cooking, and various new farm-based tools like a rich soil block for better crop yields near water. Most of its recipes will show up in JEI, so search there if you’re not sure what a new ingredient is used for.

Joy of Painting

Lets you actually paint pictures in-world. Craft an easel and canvas, then right-click the canvas to open a painting interface where you pick colors and brush strokes to create custom artwork, which becomes a placeable/hangable painting item when finished. A fun way to make custom decorations instead of relying on vanilla paintings.

Macaw’s Mods

A set of mods that adds a large set of craftable furniture, windows, fences, walls, bridges, doors, roofs, stairs, paths, and trapdoors in every wood type. Check JEI (press U/R on a piece of wood or existing furniture) to find recipes — most items are crafted like a normal 3x3 recipe using vanilla wood and a couple of new base pieces you craft first. Just place them in the world like normal blocks; many of them (like chairs) can be sat in by right-clicking.
